Accurate Angle Representation From Misplaced Hall-Effect Switch Sensors for Low-Cost Electric Vehicle Applications

This article presents an accurate method to determine the mandatory rotor position control a permanent magnet synchronous machine from misplaced Hall-effect switch sensors. The main feature of this technique is estimated speed two consecutive edge transitions in same phase dodge inaccurate information. Besides, when new electrical cycle starts, gradual compensation algorithm corrects initial estimation cancel angle error order prevent current distortions. Furthermore, first-order Taylor series approximation estimates compensated calculation, reducing possible torque ripple and noise due strategy. proposed has been compared with other state-of-the-art approaches through simulation experimental results obtained low-voltage powertrain, showing more straightforward implementation delivering best balance performance during steady-state transient operation.
